Mui Ne is a lovely beach town in South Vietnam, famous for its watersports action - kitesurfing, windsurfing and surfing are all possible at different times of the year. The town comes alive between October and March, when the wind is blowing - but it still retains a nice intimate feel. The local seafood is fantastic, fresh (normally its still alive when you order it), plentiful and extremely cheap! And the nightlife is lively enough for thoe who want it.

What to see, what to do?
Number one on the list for Mui Ne is: learn to kitesurf! Its an excellent place to try the sport; its been our main base in Vietnam for many years, and the strong wind - which also keeps it pleasantly cool - is one of the main reasons. If you're looking for a place to lie on the beach, there are better options - Phu Quoc, for example - but if adrenaline windsports are what you are looking for, this is the best spot in SE Asia.

Equally, if you're happy to be lazing by the pool and enjoy exploring a windy, beautiful coastline with a few activities and sights thrown in, seafood to die for, and some lively nightspots, then you'll love it here - we have some great accommodation options . Mui Ne is famous for its sand dunes, SE Asia's biggest reclining Buddha on the top of a nearby mountain, and it's very friendly people.

Outside of the windy season it feels like a much quieter spot, and if you avoid the rainy months (April, May and September) it can offer a very nice low key beach holiday - and as an added bonus, the surf between April and September is often great for learning or improving surfing and standup-paddle surfing skills.

When To Come:
October - March
April, July & August
May, June, September More info
From October to March, expect strong wind, pleasant temperatures and almost no rain. The months of May/June and September are generally the wettest, but a day without some sunshine and blue sky is rare in Mui Ne at any time of the year.

We Love:
An afternoon of strong-wind kitesurfing on the ocean, sunset beers on the beach, then out for Cua Rang Me (tamarind crab) and a bottle of white wine...a day made in heaven!
